Vodis at CES 2012
At CES 2012 in Las Vegas, Synergiums is introducing software called Vodis™, offering semantic voice and text recognition. This enables the user to search for content just by talking or writing naturally. It also permits control of digital devices. Such capabilities represent significant similarities to SIRI, which was recently launched on the Apple iPhone 4S.
The launch version of Vodis™ enables consumers to accurately and easily search for and purchase TV and movies. Research shows most TV consumers have problems finding content they want. Vodis™ is also ideal for the proliferating ‘second screen’ – a tablet or smartphone used in parallel with a TV, often with a social angle.
For technology providers and content vendors, this software offers on-demand search, sales and marketing intelligence tools.
The range of solutions currently covers areas including Pay-TV, Video-on-Demand and Electronic Programme Guides. It is geared to multi-screen and connected TV. The technology is also suited to piloting other services, and going forwards this may include social media and online gaming. It is adaptable for use across sectors.
Vodis™ has completed proof of concept exercises with a leading European quadruple-play provider as well as a cutting edge provider of set-top-box equipment, Netgem (press contact: Julie Dardelet jda@netgem.com). The latter has led to a strategic partnership. The company is negotiating a consumer rollout in selected European territories, plus integration with global consumer electronics and VoIP players.
